So, what’s out there and how do you harness the power of the internet to make money?
There are a number of ways to do it, and almost all of them require some type of internet marketing — a roadmap to “getting in front of an audience” and making your case on why they should buy from you or why they should “sell themselves on you.” The latter involves a little bit more cunning, more work, and finesse.
So there are a number of different ways to do internet marketing, as mentioned in my earlier post, but probably the most noticeable and at the same time most misunderstood is affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing refers to the act of promoting someone else’s product or service, for the purpose of getting paid by the product owner or the service provider. An affiliate is a person or a group of people who promote other people’s products. For an affiliate, it usually means that a certain performance, action, or benefit is delivered to the product owner or service provider for the affiliate to get paid. Some instances require a sale to occur, while in others, maybe just a simple email address, zip code, or survey is all that is needed.
On the other side, a product owner or service provider is one who wisely gets affiliate marketers to do the marketing, spend for the marketing, and he only pays for the performance or results. It is by far, the most efficient way to sell your product for the lowest marketing cost.
Being an affiliate marketer is arguably the best, most lucrative, and simplest way to work from home and make money on the internet. However, it’s not easy. If you have no clue how to put up a blog, or how to build pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, or how to make a web page, or how to do article marketing, or how to build a list, your learning curve will be very steep. The cost to learn this craft is directly proportional to what you already know, your ability to learn, your ability and discipline to implement, and if you’re doing pay-per-click marketing, your capacity to stomach high rate spending.
It involves a lot of research and disciplined work. From finding the right CPA networks, to researching keywords, to writing ad copy, to building efficient campaigns, to tracking, there are endless sources of information and various tools that can help automate some processes. PPC is the fastest way to find out if an offer or product will be a hit, but it costs money and if you come to play in the PPC arena without at least the right knowledge, you will be slaughtered. Still, everyone that’s become a success at it has at one point paid the Google “stupid tax.” It’s where you are made to pay dearly for mistakes or for not knowing how to play. But further still, you have to experience it to know it. You’d be wise to assume that there’s a lot to cover when it comes to CPA (Cost Per Action) and PPC. There should be a course in college that teaches this.
Article and blogging offer less costly ways to do affiliate marketing but it takes time to find out what works and it involves a lot of consistent work and content production. I don’t know of anyone these days that has enough time to even get into it, including myself. You basically write about your offer and promote it.
Online affiliate marketing is basically promoting an offer that someone else owns, by providing a link, or a clickable image called a banner ad that links the buyer to the offer. When the advertiser or product owner receives the desired benefit or action, the affiliate gets paid – usually 15 days after a 30-day month. Top producing affiliates get paid twice per month to once or twice a week.
All for now, I’ll post some more info on this as inspiration comes. Next is we’ll look at the other ways to make money on the internet. Hope you liked this one. :)
